A New Limited Edition Release

Evening all!

Sightings. This isn’t a diminutive version of the Skeptiko. It was designed in parallel with Artefacts and every component had to work across both case types.

Artefacts (Ultem®) is inexplicable, it prefers secret meetings in dark corners.

Sightings is steel kit for field work.

The steel case has a tumbled finish. More specifically, it’s been agitated with Dorset gravel and grit for many hours (yes, really). The machining fingerprint is still visible (as it is on nearly all Schofields), but now it sits beneath a speckled and weathered texture

The chatoyant dial displays the central triangle as either neutral, darker or lighter to the surrounding dial depending on the light. This is one of its tricks. The shiftiness ties with the theme.

Artefacts and Sightings are filing-cabinet labels. The Sussex Civilian Saucer Group will get eyes on those files.

If I was to choose a Schofield to wear, past or present, it would be this. Not as a rejection of the others. Simply because the Skeptiko is arcane; it has magic, obscurity, mystery and  suspicion in it.

Does it need a concept or back-story at all? I think it does equally well without. After all, that’s how it was designed.

The Skeptiko debuts officially at The British Watchmakers’ Show where we will also have some of the one-off Unusual Lights, also some 70s style watch straps that can be fitted to the Skeptikos as an alternative to those photographed.
