The timber, finish and dimensions have been chosen specifically for Schofield. Two drawers accommodate watch straps with removable partitions and soft goat suede linings. There is also space for screwdrivers, strap bars and other small parts.
The larger bottom drawer holds four watches on ingenious, spring-loaded supports developed by Jonathon. Made using small carbon-fibre rods they expand and contract to accommodate different wrist sizes. A considerably more interesting solution than an ordinary cushion.
The interior is made from walnut throughout, with goat suede protecting the things stored inside. The suede colour can be chosen to suit your taste, by default it is a sage green.
Small discreet knobs leave the fronts largely uninterrupted, while the top of the box is rebated to create two shallow trays. Somewhere to put your sunglasses, perhaps. SCHOFIELD is machined into the surface.
These are individually handmade objects with the character and small variations that come from woodworking rather than industrial production.
The Strap Box can also be ordered alongside a matching Schofield Humidor, with the figured timber continuing seamlessly across both fronts. Or, if cigars aren’t your thing, two Strap Boxes can be made as a matched pair.
