The Telemark

The Telemark

The Telemark, forming the Markers range along with the Daymark and Daymark Dark, is characterised by the one piece, German made stainless steel case. A nail notch milled into the side for pulling out the crown. Dials that feature chapter rings and oversized hands designed for clarity. This is a set of white watches for telling the time!

The Telemark is influenced by the classic war film The Heroes of Telemark which is often cited as one of the best-dressed men’s films of all time.

The white, an obvious starting point, calling on the Norwegian fjords and the persistent snow, contrasts with our first fully numerated dial with a black pixel font reminiscent of Bauhaus design and AEG industrial clocks. Known as a submarine dial it has been designed for low light readability. The hour markers in the chapter ring are black anodised and filled with SuperLumi-Nova C5. The overall asymmetrical dial layout is a reference to the watch Kirk Douglas wore in the movie. The date is notable for being reprinted to read horizontally in the 4:30 position. The surrounding graphic is a modification of the Unicode symbol for a lighthouse (used on the Markers’ crown) but which also resembles a naval contact mine.

Powered by a Swiss movement, ETA 2824, the Telemark is a 3-hander, hours, minutes and seconds and date function. The case has a 44mm diameter with a solid engraved case back. The price shown is with UK VAT, if you are outside of Europe then VAT will be deducted at the checkout.

More information

The Heroes of Telemark describes the exploits of the Norwegian resistance which sought to prevent the Nazis from developing an atomic bomb. This drama frames the heroic deeds of these men and women against a visually stunning backdrop of cliffs, fjord, ice, snow and stone. At the same time it refuses to be pigeonholed by terms as simplistic as “war film” or “love story” as it takes elements from both and crafts a tale which compels the viewer to think, just as much as it tugs at the heartstrings.

It was off piste for Schofield to start designing white watches influenced by a movie. However, the romance of the rugged beauty and harsh conditions of Norway’s crenelated coast felt like a natural diversion. The marriage of Schofield’s existing design language to the influences of the film has created a set of limited white watches befitting the sartorial heroes of Telemark.

Size guide

Schofield watch straps are available in two sizes; regular and long.

Medium/average wrists are covered with both sizes.

The regular sized watch straps are 110mm on the non buckle side and 75 on the buckle side. The long straps are 115mm on the non buckle side and 90mm on the buckle side.

If your wrists are less than 19cm (7.5 inches) in circumference then we suggest you choose a regular length strap. If your wrists are more than 19cm (7.5 inches) in circumference then we suggest a long strap. If your wrists are approximately 19cm in circumference then a longer strap will give more of a tail; most guys opt for a regular sized watch strap with a shorter tail.

Watch care

A note on the Telemark characteristics and care: The stainless steel case will mark and scratch over time, especially around the bezel. This is normal and expected. Please visit our servicing page for more information.
