Titanium watches case info

Two striking limited editions, these titanium watches are designed for comfortable, everyday wear in the highly recognisable Schofield case. With legible dials devoid of any unnecessary ornament.

The case back engraving shows a 1950s style UFO hovering above Smeaton’s Tower, a lighthouse that represents Great British engineering and innovation. It also featured on Schofield’s first watch the Signalman, followed by many others over the last decade. The Strange Lights in limited editions traces that journey. It is a loud and confident celebration of 10 years in watchmaking.

Schofield manufactures and finishes all the titanium watches right here in the UK. Whilst we have made titanium watches before never with a Ti case back and aluminium movement holder. It is only 85 grams strapped making it arguably the most comfortable in Schofield’s history. There is an engraving of SWC SL-1 (Schofield Watch Company Strange Lights 1) on the side of the case. This aesthetic matches with P-2 , our new fountain pen, UV-1 a small ultra-violet torch (a must for any watch lover), TL-1 a bright tritium light source and the forthcoming Small Wall Clock.

An elaborate and deep laser engraving on the case back says it all with a retro UFO beaming a light over Smeaton’s Tower lighthouse, so many lights in a strange combination. The crown has been lauded as one of the finest made. It is an intricate wonder. featuring a gold-plated nail groove that matches the hands. The crown is finished both matt and polished surfaces with a unicode symbol for a lighthouse engraved into the face.

We use a double-domed, chamfered sapphire crystal. Featuring a new technology anti-reflection coating, applied in nine layers. Applied to the top surface is a special oleophobic, DLC coating anti-reflective coating, making them scratch resistant and look lens-like, a typical Schofield aesthetic.

Dial and movement info

These titanium watches are classic Schofield in the layout, open and uncluttered designed for legibility. Hours at cardinal points including a slash-0 at 12. Darts between the numbers and a minute track bordering precisely the stepped level and colour change in the dial.

The Strange Lights is a limited edition full titanium watch with only 29 made in not quite green dial colour and 29 not quite red.

We commissioned custom Super-LumiNova for these dials, a coloured pigment that matches the dials yet emits green. Most obvious in the printed ring around the outer circumference of the dial akin to the Blacklamp. Red for the red dial, green for the green. The hue of both designed specifically for the tone of the titanium watch cases.

The new hand set features a play on the original Sign-of-Life hand found on some Beater models. Here it is a counter poise only, indicating time is passing but without the need for to the second time-telling.

Brushed gold hands match the inner gold ring in the crown. Pertinent to this watch is the luminescence of the second hand and the central cap, so that in the dark it looks like orbiting bodies. More Strange Lights.

The movement is the ubiquitous stalwart of quality and reliability the ETA 2824-2. This time gold-plated and highly finished, it has a retro feel in this much rarer variant. You cannot see it behind the solid case back – but it’s there.

Our titanium watches match with any grey strap.

Size guide

Schofield watch straps are available in three sizes; regular and long and uni. For fine tweaking read on.

The regular sized watch straps are 110mm on the non buckle side and 75 on the buckle side. The long straps are 115mm on the non buckle side and 90mm on the buckle side. Uni straps have 115mm long non buckle side and a 78mm long buckle side.

If your wrists are less than 19cm (7.5 inches) in circumference then we suggest you choose a regular or uni length strap. For wrists that are more than 19cm (7.5 inches) in circumference then we suggest a long strap. With wrists approximately 19cm in circumference then a longer strap will give more of a tail; most guys opt for a regular sized watch strap with a shorter tail.

We has introduced a new uni strap size. It falls between our traditional long and regular sized straps. Only some straps are available in Uni, others are still the regular and long sizes.

ICON BOX

Schofield watches are packaged in a British made ash and cedar wood box with recycled and recyclable card boxes and protection. We adhere to our Mission Statement even if it means the outer packaging can (for some) fall short of that luxury feel.

That said Schofield watch boxes are really cool. Lorded for their beauty of design and craftsmanship. Just because it is green does not mean we cannot flex our creative muscle!

These titanium watches are currently shipped in the Squat Box.

ICON DRIVERS

All additional straps come with a set of our proprietary Lug Protection stickers. If you regularly change straps then we suggest you consider some Schofield Drivers. They are purpose made flat-head watch screwdrivers for changing straps and buckles on all Schofield watch models.

If you are choosing an extra strap you may also need a buckle, of which we have many to choose from. Our titanium watch cases come with steel buckles to match the crowns.
