Strange Lights Not Quite Red
The first new Schofield watch since 2018! A full titanium case making it the lightest Schofield ever made at 85 grams strapped. It comes in two colours; not quite red and not quite green, a little off, strange. Port and starboard navigation lights, on the sea or in the sky. Distant. Playing on Schofield’s domain; the English coast with a touch of the obscure. Striking watches designed for comfortable, everyday wear in the highly recognisable Schofield case with legible dials devoid of any unnecessary ornament.
Powered by a Swiss automatic, gold, high grade and highly finished ETA 2824-2, the watch is essentially a two and a half hander featuring our new Sign-of-Life seconds hand. The case is 44mm in diameter with a deep laser engraving on the back. The price shown is with UK VAT, if you are outside of Europe then VAT will be deducted at the checkout.

The case back engraving shows a 1950s style UFO hovering above Smeaton’s Tower, a lighthouse that represents Great British engineering and innovation; it also featured on Schofield’s first ever watch the Signalman, followed by many others over the last decade. Strange Lights, traces that journey and is a loud and confident celebration of 10 years in watch making.
The wholly machined and finished British made case is a one piece construction of vapour blasted titanium. Whilst we have made Ti cases before never before with a Ti case back and aluminium movement holder. The watch is only 85 grams strapped and buckled making it arguably the most comfortable in Schofield’s history. The side of the case has been engraved SWC SL-1 ‘Schofield Watch Company Strange Lights 1’. This aesthetic matches with P-2 , our new fountain pen, UV-1 a small ultra-violet torch (a must for any watch lover), TL-1 a bright tritium light source and the forthcoming Small Wall Clock. The elaborate and deep laser engraving on the case back says it all with a retro UFO beaming a light over Smeaton’s Tower lighthouse, so many lights in a strange combination. The crown an intricate wonder; the gold-plated nail groove matches the hands, the mixture of matt and polished surfaces, the unicode symbol for a lighthouse engraved into the face. The crystal a double domed and chamfered sapphire with a blue anti-reflection coating that makes it look so lens-like.
Classic Schofield in the layout, open and uncluttered designed for legibility, hours at cardinal points including a slash-0 at 12. Darts between the numbers and a minute track bordering precisely the stepped level and colour change in the dial. We commissioned custom Super-LumiNova for these dials, a coloured pigment that matches the dials yet emits green. Red for the red dial, green for the green. Most obvious in the dark is the ring around the outer circumference akin to the Blacklamp. The new hand set features a play on the original Sign-of-Life hand found on some Beater models, here it is a counter poise only, indicating time is passing but without the need for to the second time-telling. The hands are brushed bronze and the glints of gold match the ring in the crown. Perhaps most pertinent to this watch is the luminescence of the second hand and the central cap, so that in the dark it looks like orbiting bodies. More Strange Lights. The movement is the ubiquitous stalwart of quality and reliability the ETA 2824-2, this time gold-plated and highly finished, it has a retro feel in this much less common variant. You cannot see it behind the solid case back – but it’s there.
BTW it is shown here on the 9h7b strap but looks even better on the new Super Nap which was designed specifically for the Strange Lights.
Schofield watch straps are available in three sizes; regular and long and uni. Medium/average wrists are covered with all sizes. However for fine tweeting read on.
The regular sized watch straps are 110mm on the non buckle side and 75 on the buckle side. The long straps are 115mm on the non buckle side and 90mm on the buckle side. Uni straps have 115mm long non buckle side and a 78mm long buckle side.
If your wrists are less than 19cm (7.5 inches) in circumference then we suggest you choose a regular or uni length strap. If your wrists are more than 19cm (7.5 inches) in circumference then we suggest a long strap. If your wrists are approximately 19cm in circumference then a longer strap will give more of a tail; most guys opt for a regular sized watch strap with a shorter tail.
We has introduced a new uni strap size. It falls between our traditional long and regular sized straps. Only some straps are available in Uni, others are still the regular and long sizes.
