Treasure Watch Gold

Treasure Watch Gold

£3,780.00

The notion of treasure, whether to hoard it or share it has been a Schofield conundrum from the start. One of our many straplines, ‘All we Make is Treasure’ sums up the Schofield vibe of the coast, lighthouses and the romance of something to be discovered. It has been 10 years this November since we launched Schofield to the world with the Signalman. A polished steel case with a black dial. So we consider this new model an anniversary watch harking back to an earlier time with all the wonder we have imagined over the last decade built in.

The price shown is with UK VAT, if you are outside of the UK, VAT will be deducted at the checkout. There are so many ways to pay, if you would rather do business over email – it is no problem. Note – COVID, Brexit and Christmas will slow production down, please be aware that it is likely to take one to two months to complete an order.

Gold watch case info

It seems like a curve ball for Schofield to do a gold-plated watch. But hang on! How about doing in over a brass body? If you ding it or scratch it the substrate is still gold. That’s good right? Then how about wearing through the plate in years to come, especially around the bezel. Well that would stay shiny but if the brass would oxidise then it would be subtly darker than the remaining plate. Now we are back on brand. A Schofield gold watch made to patina.

The Treasure Watch comes in two metal variants, both highly polished, one in stainless steel and the second a heavy gold-plate over a brass body. Using brass for the gold-plated version visually protects the watch. Both cases have matching strap bars and buckles. The gold X on the case back is formed by bonding a gold-plated brass disc (gold coin) behind the wire-eroded aperture in the multi-stepped stainless steel part. One of our most elaborate designs yet.

Dial and movement info

Schofield favours dials that have a clean layout, the Treasure Watch is no exception, it is open and uncluttered and designed for legibility, it features our slash-zero at 12 o’clock and a stepped dial first seen on the Signalman. We have also included a printed luminescent ring around the outer circumference similar to the original Schofield Blacklamp. Using Super-LumiNova C3 with a green emission. These black dials offer high night-time visibility. The handset features a play on the original Sign-of-Life hand found on some Beater models, here it is a counter poise only, indicating time is passing but without the need for to the second time-telling. Here we use the same luminescent compound but with a blue emission making things a little more interesting. The hands are brushed gold and match the gold ring in the middle of the crown. Gold and silver treasure through-out.

The Treasure Watch is powered with a fully gold-plated Automatic ETA 2824, the movement holder is an overbuilt gold anodised aluminium ring. Like the best treasure, it’s hidden. But you know it is there!

Strap size guide

Schofield watch straps are available in three sizes; regular and long and uni. For fine tweaking read on.

The regular sized watch straps are 110mm on the non buckle side and 75 on the buckle side. The long straps are 115mm on the non buckle side and 90mm on the buckle side. Uni straps have 115mm long non buckle side and a 78mm long buckle side.

If your wrists are less than 19cm (7.5 inches) in circumference then we suggest you choose a regular or uni length strap. For wrists that are more than 19cm (7.5 inches) in circumference then we suggest a long strap. With wrists approximately 19cm in circumference then a longer strap will give more of a tail; most guys opt for a regular sized watch strap with a shorter tail.

We has introduced a new uni strap size. It falls between our traditional long and regular sized straps. Only some straps are available in Uni, others are still the regular and long sizes.

Gold watch care

If you have bought one of these gold watches then you understand that they will scratch and mark, because gold is soft. So the case will mark and scratch over time but rather than staying bright it will oxidise over a few weeks and the patination process begins. You may see some polishing around the bezel as the plate and oxide is worn away by shirt cuffs. Just use our polishing cloth and nothing else. We also advise that you do not stress your watch or deliberately test it to the limits! For example please remove before the shower, there is just no point 🙂
